Now-a-days, Everyone Keeps Asking Me about Flashing Nokia Mobiles. And It Becames Very Difficult and Irritative to Explain the Whole Tutorial to Every Indivisual.
So, I created This Post For Everyone Who Wants to Know Everything About Flashing.
We'll Learn Step by Step From The basics. :)
Q. What is flashing ?
A. Flashing means installing Firmware (ie. Nokia OS) in your phone in Dead Condition (Dead flash) or in Working Condition (Normal flash).
Q. What is the need for it ?
A. (i). Dead flash to recover your dead phone.
(ii). Normal flash to improve your phone (ie. adding extra features).
Q.What is Downgrading/Upgrading ?
A. Downgrading means flashing with lower version firmware than your phone have at present. Upgrading means its opposite.
1. To find current firmware version of your phone just type *#0000# on ideal screen.
2. Downgrading may be harmful to your phone.
Q. What is Product Code ?
A. Product codes tells about your phone's specific Language&Country Region. You can change it easily or can flash with firmware of other Product code.
1. To find your current Product code remove the battery and look on a white label for Code: 0XYZABC
2. You cannot flash with firmware of other RM type. RM type is related to your Phone model.
Q. How many type of firmware files we need ?
A. Mostly you need 3 files :
i. MCUSW or CORE or C0R or C00 (main FirmWare file)
ii. IMAGE or CNT (contains Gallery&Games item)
iii. PPM (contains Language&Fonts&Icons)
but 3 additional files also required while flashing with Pheonix or Nokia Care Suite :
iv. VPL
v. DCP
vi. Signature.BIN
Q. What is J.A.F. & its use ?
A. Just Another Flasher- commanly used for nokia phone repairing and flashing. We can run it without J.A.F. Doungle with heip of P-Key Emulator.
1. If you are using Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 than run P-Key Emulator in Windows XP comptiblity mode.
2. If J.A.F. does not recognise your phone than simply go to C:/Program Files/ODOEN/JAF/ and open jaf_nok4models.ini file with notepad and simply add below two lines to it
[RM-618]
Description=Nokia X2-00
Replace 618 with your RM-Type and X2-00 with your phone model and save that file. Be sure you've installed latest Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver on your PC.

A. Pheonix is another tool for repairing Nokia phones & flashing. But it've no support for newer phones.
Q. What is Nokia Care Suite ?
A. Nokia Care Suite is a Nokia tool used to solve all software related problem of Nokia phones by NOKIA CARE CENTRES. It is used also to download firmwares from Nokia's official FiRE service.
Q. What is NaviFirm ?
A. NaviFirm is a tool to download Nokia's official firmwares. Many days ago Nokia stopped its service. So, its no use.
Q. What is a Custom Firmware (CFW) ?
A. Modded firmware is called CFW. We mod PPM & image file for change look & adding extra features.

To Download, Go to Mrcrab.com Using Your Browser and And Search With Your Mobiles RM Version. (Press *#0000# in Mobile, To See RM Version )
Or, You can Download Firmwares From Nokia's Server Using NAVIFIRM Tool. :)
Or, You can Download Firmwares Using Data Package Manager Too. :)
